The (Everett, Washington) Herald published a feature article on Sunday about the Snowgoose Bookstore in Stanwood, WA, and the owners’ recommendations for the best gift books for the Holiday season. The article also includes this great photo of the store owners, Kristine Kaufman and her husband Tom Bird, and gives a really nice impression of the store. Wouldn’t you know, about the same time that the article appeared, Tom fell off a ladder and broke his leg (probably hanging mistletoe at the store!). So while Kristine stays home helping Tom deal with his misery, Kristine’s sister and brother-in-law, Karen and Larry West, who used to own the Bookmark in downtown Eugene, are minding the store. Once a bookseller, always a bookseller. We send our best wishes to them all, at this, the busiest time of any bookseller’s year.
NWBL also featured “The Goose” in September, with a more extensive interview.
Kristine and Tom were gracious hosts for my March 2009 author event. They also made it possible for me to visit their local middle school for a day of teaching poetry, which I thoroughly loved. Best wishes for a speedy recovery, Tom!
