This week in NYC, thousands of booksellers, authors and publishing people have descended on the Javits Center to schmooze, mingle and talk books and bookselling (coffee, breath mint, coffee, breath mint, repeat). Our intrepid colleague Brian is on the floor there, and this morning he sent us this photo of NW indie wonder-couple Colin Meloy and Carson Ellis. Meloy and Ellis were signing copies of their forthcoming YA fantasy novel, Wildwood, which is due in stores in August and has received advance love from Lemony Snicket, Michael Chabon and Jonathan Safran Foer. Meloy, the lead singer for the Decemberists, put his storytelling skills to writing the book and Ellis, whose work you might recognize here and here and here, has illustrated it. At BEA, where Brian ambushed them in the VIP green (blue?) room, Ellis and Meloy name-dropped their local indie, St. Johns Booksellers.
